Yo, yo, welcome back to the Feather Your Lifestyle Podcast Conversations on Lifestyle, Passions, and Hustles. My name's Chris. I am your host, and I'm super excited to be back here having the conversation with you. Episode 239 today, and we're talking about it's it's a very, you know, like most conversations that we have, a similar topic that we've touched on before, but again, reiterating that when we hear things from different perspectives in fresh ways, it can really prompt us to have a better understanding of something. And the topic that we're talking about today is staying on theme to us, you know, as we get to the end of the, you know, end of 2025, as we move closer to 2026. Just reflecting on the different things and the different, I guess, perspectives that I've been reflecting on personally as I've come to the end of the year and it's been an amazing year of success, but also there's been a lot of challenges. And some of these things are really important to think about before we move into a new year as you gear up for your best year yet. And the topic is stay the course even when you can't see it yet. And the whole theme around all this, and again, common theme, is momentum doesn't always feel exciting, but showing up does compound. And it's it's a really, really important conversation to be having with yourself, especially when in the moment maybe you don't feel it, but when you zoom out, you do the reflection, you realize, geez, we've grown so much, or I've achieved so much, or you've been able to do so much over a longer period of time. Maybe not in the short, but in the long term, we're not the same person we we were five years ago. So that's really what we're talking about today. Get comfortable, get cozy. It will be a quick episode, but if you enjoy these episodes, number one, please share them. That would mean the absolute world to me. But secondly, if you want to continue the conversation after we've gone through this, jump down into the comments. You can drop a question, you can drop a message, say hello for all I care. I'll do my best to get back to you. But you know, even if you want to share your perspectives and fresh ideas, I'm always open for it as well. So I'm gonna roll the intro and let's get into it. So the prompts I want to explore today are a number of things, right? So are you mistaking quiet progress for no progress, which you know, very common? What if your results show up after the season you're in? And sometimes a lot of the time, that's what happens. We we sow seeds now, we put in the work now, we don't see the quick result, but then all of a sudden things start flourishing. And then what's one thing you're doing now that your future self will thank you for? That's a really important one. Obviously, listening to this episode is gonna help hopefully get you ahead for next year. But you know, we've touched on all of this whole theme probably a couple of months back, talking about, you know, momentum doesn't always seem present, right? Because you're doing, doing, doing, and you're not really getting the outcome instantly, that instant gratification. But just because you can't see it happening doesn't mean it isn't. Okay? And there are a number of things that we can look back on and reflect on. And for me, I track a lot of things like a hawk. Like that's the project manager inside me. In my business, you know, I've tracked the last five years of data, so I can see the trends, I can see the ups, the downs, I can compare it to seasons, I can compare it to types of categories, I can see that, and that helps me really understand that really things aren't that bad. But one thing I will say that we need to find indicators, we need to find little things that we can compare back to. Now, at the moment, you know, this is where I I'm filming this in October, but obviously this episode's coming out on the 23rd of November. And in the last week or so, I've been reflecting on where we were a year ago. And at the time of me filming this, a year ago, we didn't have a warehouse, we didn't even have our fifth storage unit, and we had only just hit, we had only just hit$500,000 in revenue. A year later, we got our we went from having our fifth storage unit to then getting into a warehouse to actually we're just shy, even right now, we're just shy of hitting our first$1 million in the business. So what took us four years to hit$500,000 has only taken us one more year to almost double it. And when you look at that perspective in terms of, you know, the compounding effects, the whole the whole premise of this episode that showing up enables compounding, right? You putting in the reps, you being consistent, you being persistent, and actually doing actionable and tangible work, that's when you can start to see that maybe things are playing out. And maybe the work that you do today isn't about the work, I mean, isn't about the outcomes that occur today, because that's all happened from stuff that you did weeks ago or months ago or whatever it might have been. But what you do today is setting you up for the success for the weeks to come, the days to come, the months to come, the gears to come. So when we start to reflect, one thing that I've always done as a project manager in my past, you know, before I was working for myself, is we always compared to baselines versus actuals. So we might have had a or forecast versus actuals, which may have been like, you know, at this point in time we were expecting to be at this result or this outcome. And most of the time that's financial, like budgets. But then when you I need to sneeze, I can feel it coming. But then when you compare it to the actual state where you land in this moment, in this month, in this year, you can start to say, okay, we were a bit higher, or a bit lower, or we were just on target. And you can use that as a thing to kind of say, well, what was the indicator or what was the change of why we went lower or why we went higher or why we didn't change? And you can do this with an old you versus a you now and the future you. So where you are right now, if you compare yourself to a year ago, what's changed? What have you achieved? What were the results? What are the outcomes that you've been able to conquer and actually, you know, stand by versus now where you are, where do you want to be? And what are the things you want to achieve, whether it's in the next year, six months, whatever. Right? So these are all very important things that you can do. And it's so easy to get stuck in mistaking, you know, just putting in the reps, not seeing the result, and thinking, but there's no progress. But when you zoom out, that's why it's important to zoom out and reflect. That's why it's important, especially at the end of the year, as we draw closer and closer to the end of the year, getting yourself ready for that new year to know that no, what you have done this year has been amazing. And you have achieved things. Now, things might not have gone perfect. You might not have achieved everything you wanted to do. Maybe you wanted to lose some extra kilos, maybe you wanted to budget a bit more money, maybe you wanted to grow your business, maybe you wanted to run your first half marathon. Maybe you didn't do all those things. Maybe you only ran 10k. But if a year ago you only ran your first 5k, you've literally doubled your progress. And I think that's where we get so hard on ourselves. Speaking from I'm the first to raise my hand, I'm very, very hard on myself in achieving goals. Like, you know, we raised over$9,000. I think it was$8,500 or$9,000 for backpack of Vic kids this year. But last year we did$10, and the year before that we did 11. But, you know, three years ago we were only doing two and a half. So when you start to look at it, even though it's a lower this year, it's still higher than the average over the last few years and since the prior year. So you've got to look at things from a perspective, and some of it is framing, some of it is sh help narrate the story into a perspective that gives you a better understanding. I mean, if you've only got a baseline of 10,000 and you do 1,000, sure, you've dropped. Why have you dropped? Versus if you've got a baseline of a thousand and you did only 2,000, gee, you doubled. I mean, come on. You get my point. So you gotta remember that sometimes results don't show up instantly. They're gonna take a little bit of time to sprout. Just like when you plant some veggies, they don't pop up instantly. Sometimes they take a little bit of time to sow, right? And you reap what you sow, right? You will get the rewards from that sow. And when you get those rewards, you flourish in them, you enjoy them, and then you do it again, right? You take those wins, you ride the highways, but you've got to be willing to push through the low ones as well. Alright, I'm not gonna harp on on this, I'm gonna keep it short and sweet. As I said, the next few weeks we are kind of just doing some quick episodes really to help you get set up and ready for the end of the year. A few more things I'm gonna challenge you on, a few more things that I'm gonna prompt you on. And if you enjoy these episodes, I would challenge you to share them with someone else. Get it out there, right? I mean, this isn't about me. I really want to see people achieve their dreams and goals and you know aspirations. And sometimes we need to hear it from someone else's perspective. If you want to know more about me, I mean you can go see my rest of my content on my on my channel. I document my journey, I'm a reseller, build an amazing business, got an amazing team that makes that happen. And we've seen some great success by really getting out there and just putting in the reps and doing the work, but also taking calculator risks and of course working on you know what are the things that worked, what are the things that aren't working, and how do we continuously compound on top of that? So, my challenge to you is that. And if you enjoyed this episode, you can also leave a comment. You can continue the conversation, we can have a chat, drop a message down below. If you're listening to this in the audio version, you can jump over to the YouTube version as well, you'll be able to find it pretty quick. But that's that. I'm gonna leave you with it, right? But what I'll leave you with this. What's one thing you're doing now that your future self will thank you for? That's the question I want you to answer for yourself today. You can put it in the comments if you want, but that's the question you should be answering, right? And don't be so hard on yourself. Appreciate you being here. We'll be back here again next week, doing it all again. You have a wonderful day. Cheers.
