SPEAKER_00:

Yo yo yo, welcome back to the Feather Your Lifestyle Podcast Conversations on Lifestyle, Passions, and Hustles. My name's Chris. I'm your host, and I'm super excited to be back here having the conversation with you. Hope you're doing well today. Hope you're um really um embracing the end of the year. We it's the 16th of November today, and you know it's geez, we're so close of hitting the end of the year. Now, uh over the next couple of weeks I'm gonna be doing some short and sharp episodes in which I want to hopefully help it motivates you, challenges you, helps you question things, prompts you to think about, you know, this year alone that you've done for 2025. I mean, if you're listening to this at some other point, it doesn't really matter. But really just gearing you up to getting to a headspace to think about well, what are some of the things that this could maybe apply to in helping you achieve your best year yet in 2026 or the next season ahead, whatever it may be. So we'll be taking a break at the end of the year, you know, a few more episodes left for the rest of the year, and I'll be taking some time away and you know, enjoying some much needed downtime, do some planning. And at the moment, all these episodes that I've been doing in recent and what to come in the next couple of weeks, they're all kind of things which are on my mind that are keeping me honest, helping me think about as I reflect on things and challenging me of how I want to do things better. And today is episode 238, and the whole topic for today, and it's it's not a new topic, like we've discussed this before. It's talking about how resistance is this compass. And this whole theme around, well, if it if it's hard, it's probably a sign that it matters. And I laugh about this because so many times I hear people talk about like, oh, it's just so hard to do, and they're trying to trying to find a quick win or a quick way to get through or a shortcut. And most of the time that fails, fails, fails, and they end up going through the hard way, which was the the first way, but it works out being the best way or the quickest way. Because sometimes there's just no cheat codes, there's just no shortcuts, there's just no easy way through it other than through the hard way, only because you've never done it before. And that's what we're talking about today. I need to sneeze, it's I can feel it coming. So get yourself cozy, get yourself comfortable. We're gonna roll the intro in a second. I'm gonna sneeze, and then we'll get into the episode. All right, so the um the theme, as I said, if if it's hard, it's probably a sign that it matters. Now, there's a whole bunch of different prompts here that I want to explore, which is what are you avoiding that actually needs your attention? I mean, come on, we all do it. There's so many things that we know we need to do when we put to them aside, we find other things that are more prioritized over them. And I I put in you know, quotation marks because they're just distractions. We pick up side quests to help ourselves feel productive, to avoid doing the thing that actually needs to be done. The other thing is that I'll mention is where do you feel the most resistance and why? And the other question I'd be asking is what might be waiting on the other side of discomfort? Now, these are all very common similar traits we've been talking about over the last couple of weeks. But I've said this before, and I'll say it again. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. When we are put up with challenges, when things feel hard, it's because you're doing things that you've never really done before. Right? How many times have you done something which was hard the first time and then it becomes hard the second time or harder the second time? It doesn't. Usually it becomes a little bit easier. It might be hard, hard, hard, not much as hard, a little bit easier, okay, and all of a sudden it's I can do this any day of the week, right? And that is because you've never done it before. And a lot of the time, people, majority of people, do not do the thing, the hard thing, to get them to a new level of skill or a new level of state or a new version of themselves. That's the truth. We're lazy. We don't want to have to seek discomfort. But when you seek discomfort, that's when you level up and you become better at what you're doing. It's like when you play a video game. The first time you go against the big boss, you don't know how to do it, but you learn, oh, hang on, he does his thing. If I do, if I do the attack there, that's where I'll damage him. So the next time you come back to try and do it, you learn that, and then you learn his patterns and you learn his ways, and then by the tenth time, oh, that was easy. I know how to do it now, right? So, but but this is why a small minority of us are where we are. We're ahead of others because we're willing to seek the discomfort, we're willing to embrace those things which enable us to move forward to a greater and bigger and better place of ourselves, like a better version of ourselves. And the other thing you gotta keep in mind is though, you know, it's also likely because the things that are hard are part of a dream or a goal or ambition or a vision that we have. So therefore it's a little bit easier to kind of step out into that discomfort. But there will come times where you know you've been through a lot, you've had some big challenges, you're facing your biggest challenge yet, and it just feels like it's going on and on and on and on. But that doesn't mean that this is the end. That doesn't mean that you know you should give up, right? Because how many other times in the past, maybe they didn't go as long, but you felt the same thing. It was hard, it was tough, you didn't know what to do, you're struggling, but you've gotten through it. You are where you are now. It might have been a pivot, you might have had to make some adjustments, you might have had to make some changes, but you're further ahead to where you were, right? We've grown, you've developed, you've you've become a better version of yourself. You look back then, you think, ah, what what changed? Well, you saw it through, you figured it out, right? And you can't just be sitting around waiting for things to change. You have to take action, you have to take control. We spoke about that last week, and you have to understand the clarity of what you're trying to achieve to be motivated and you know, to have all that energy to actually push through. Excuse me. But when we understand what might be waiting on the other side of discomfort, that gets us motivated, that gets us excited, it brings us energy to make it happen. But I think the key thing here is what are the things that we're avoiding that actually needs our attention to solve your problem? I'm talking to myself here because I've been experiencing some pretty big lulls, some big challenges in the business at the moment. And the more I think about this, the more I realize that, well, there's probably things that I could be doing better, there's probably things that I could be taking action on, there's probably things that maybe if I do these, it might change our current situation. And then you think, well, why didn't I do this earlier? And maybe because you were lazy, maybe because you were scared, or maybe because you weren't thinking in that perspective. You know, there's only two options you can do. If you get backed into a corner, you either surrender or you push your way out, right? And that's really what you've got to be asking yourself is is that what you want to be doing? Now, it's okay to give up and surrender and go a different direction, but when it comes to your dreams, your goals, your visions, your ambitions, you're the only one that is accountable and responsible for those. And no one else is going to do that for you. Now, I'm here in this, you know, conversation in the Further Your Lifestyle podcast to help you challenge you and to hopefully give you some insights, some tips, some tricks. But at the end of the day, I'm building my lifestyle, right? I can't say go do this and you'll get that, because I know what I'm doing to get what I want. But I also know that the the theories, the formulas, the you know approaches, the themes, the theories, the practical or practicalities of taking action, doing the work, being motivated, having clarity, asking the questions, all of that leads to a better result, leads to a better outcome. And I'm not gonna sit here for 20 minutes and go on and about it. I mean, it really comes back to you of what are you avoiding that actually needs your attention, right? And where do you feel the most resistance and why? So, what can you actually focus on? And think about, well, if you're still struggling, what's on the other side of this discomfort? Right? Do you actually want what's on the other side of this discomfort? Is are you motivated to actually seek further? Because if you're not, why are you doing it? Right? So, I'll leave it there. These next few episodes to come over the next few weeks, as I said at the start of this uh episode, um, they're really just to challenge you, get you thinking, and get you ready as you know, we move into a new year. And look, maybe you're listening to this two years later and it's not relevant in terms of timing, but it's the same relevance in terms of if you're moving into a new season, moving into a new period of your life, starting a new job, all these different things, reflecting on the past, reflecting on what you know, reflecting on what you've achieved, and looking at your current state of how things are, and looking then at the future of where you want to be going and all the challenges that you're having getting there, and all the problems that you're having to you know overcome to get there. These are all prompts, all conversations that I'm trying to have with you to help you think in that different way. More than happy to continue the conversation. If you want to jump down in the comments below, um you can leave a message, you can leave a comment, you can ask a question, you can share your thoughts, you know, continue that conversation. It would be great. Uh but if you feel like this is a really important episode and someone else needs to hear it, please share it with them. That would mean the absolute world to me. My goal, my dream, my vision is to help others further their lifestyle. And this is my way of doing that. But if we can get that reach out further, we can all help others further their lifestyle as well. So I'm gonna leave it there. Appreciate you being here. Yeah, just take some time, maybe re-listen to this one, because I really think there's a really important key thing here is that a lot of the time it's very easy to blame others when really there's probably things we just need to take action on, and you'll start to see the momentum that you need or have had in the past. So I'll leave you with that. Uh take it easy, and I'll see you when I'm looking at you. Ciao, mm-hmm.
